In BIMcommUNITY.Africa, organisational members and individuals come together to make the digital transformation of the South African AECO environment a reality. Each individual, either representing an organisation or themselves, is part of making this community and mission possible through their support, feedback, engagement and contributions.
This document defines the Code of Conduct for our community, to ensure that we cooperate and collaborate effectively in a transparent, open, respectful and supportive environment.
This Code of Conduct is applicable to all individuals, member organisations, and partners, and we expect everyone who is actively engaged in the community to adhere to it.
How we behave in this community
Generous and discreet - generously share your time, expertise, resources and knowledge to further the work of the Community, while being sensitive to not sharing classified information.
Inspirit - encourage and support each other’s efforts and contributions.
Value - every person in the Community has equal value, regardless of title, and is treated with respect.
Equal - leave your hat, ego and agenda at the door. When you’re in the Community, you do what’s best for the Community.
Conflict of Interest - if you find yourself in a situation where there may be a conflict, disclose it to the relevant parties and seek guidance on how to proceed.
Maintain a high standard of professionalism in all interactions. This includes being punctual, reliable, and following through on commitments.
Encourage and participate in continuous improvement initiatives. Provide constructive feedback and be open to receiving feedback to help the community grow and improve.
How we DON’T behave in this community
No behaviour that stems from disrespect or arrogance.
Misusing the private information of members for personal or business reasons.
Light self-promotion is totally fine, but don’t promote your business, products, services, events, etc. The community is about building relationships that benefit BIM.
No marketing to our members or soliciting of business.
Our Responsibilities
Each active community participant is expected to take appropriate and fair corrective action in response to any instances of unacceptable behaviour.
BCA has the right and responsibility to remove, edit, or reject comments, commits, issues, and other contributions that are not aligned to this Code of Conduct, and if necessary to ban temporarily or permanently any participant of the community for other behaviours that they deem inappropriate, threatening, offensive, or harmful.
Scope
This Code of Conduct applies in all BCA community spaces, and also applies when an individual is representing the BCA in any online or offline event.
Enforcement
Violation of the above Code of Conduct will result in a warning about your behavior. Violations may be reported by contacting the BCA at angela@bimcommunity.africa.
All complaints will be reviewed and investigated, resulting in a response deemed necessary and appropriate to the circumstances. The BCA is obligated to maintain confidentiality with regard to any person who has reported an incident. If your behavior is unacceptable or you use our community for illegal activities, you will be immediately removed from our community.
